Es sollte daher keine Abteilung geben, die „Controlling“ heißt, da so bei Führungskräften den Eindruck entsteht, die Controller würden den Managern die Controllingaufgabe abnehmen.<br /> <br /> Als treffende Bezeichnungen für Abteilungen, in denen Controller arbeiten, haben sich folgende erwiesen:<br /> Controllerdienst, Control, Management-Service, betriebswirtschaftliche Abteilung.<br /> <br /> Die von Controllern abzudeckenden Arbeitsgebiete sind so umfangreich, daß sich schon in mittleren Unternehmen eine Dezentralisierung der Controlleraufgaben und eine entsprechende Spezialisierung der Controller aufdrängt. Dies folgt der anwenderorientierten situativen internen Beratung. Beispiele für dezentral eingesetzte Controller sind:<br /> <br /> *Beteiligungs-Controller<br /> *Marketing- und Vertriebs-Controller<br /> *Werks-Controller<br /> *Logistik-Controller<br /> *Forschungs- und Entwicklungs-Controller<br /> <br /> Dezentrale Controller sind in der Regel disziplinarisch ihrem lokalen Vorgesetzten zugeordnet und über eine dotted Line (unterbrochene Linie im Organisationsplan) mit dem zentralen Controllerdienst verbunden. Diese zeigt die fachliche Weisungsbefugnis des obersten zentralen Controllers eines Unternehmens an. Dezentrale Controller werden wegen ihrer Spezialisierung auch als Bindestrich-Controller bezeichnet.<br /> <br /> Weil Controller grundlegende Verantwortungen über das gesamte Unternehmen hinweg tragen, hat es sich zum Zwecke der Durchsetzungsfähigkeit bewährt, die oberste Controllerperson eines Unternehmens in die Geschäftsleitung einzugliedern.
